The Communications division also provides 24 hour coverage and is responsible for handling a variety of daily tasks.

Communications Officers take incoming calls for service, emergency calls, and of course, dispatch and communicate with UPD Officers engaged in patrol activities.

The Communications center is the lifeline for all Department Personnel and is a critical component of the safety of UPD, and all Department Employees while on the job.

The Communications Center is equipped with multiple consoles, radio equipment, and written materials used to supplement their job functions.

The Dispatch Center handles all incoming requests for GCIC/NCIC checks of vehicles, drivers, stolen property, and other critical information delivery. All Dispatch Operators go through mandated training to standardize their daily activities and provide a constant, dependable and consistent response to citizen requests.
